President of Customs reviews the recently installed scanner at Khalifa Port

Customs Affairs President, Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa has visited the Directorate of Sea Ports of the Customs Affairs at Khalifa bin Salman Port. He reviewed the operating procedures of the scanner, which was installed recently within four devices that have been contracted to operate on King Fahd Causeway and Khalifa Bin Salman Port.

The Customs President expressed his appreciation to His Excellency Minister of Interior for his ongoing support and follow up and his guidance which improves the level of services provided as it also enhances the contribution of Customs to the growth of the national economy.

He pointed out that the national team, specialised in the follow up of the implementation of the project, has completed testing the scanner and ensured its efficiency and conformity according to Bahrain Customs requirements. Also, the team has completed processing the structural buildings and provided systems associated with the project as part of the pursuit of customs affairs to implement modern development projects.

The modern scanning devices are featured with speed. They are capable of scanning from 20 to 120 containers per hour in which they can identify every passing truck or container even if they happened to have any modification to their basic structure. Thus, to avoid concealment of any obstructions.

Testing process of the trucks scanner and its operational system at King Fahad Causeway has been completed. The implementation of the project is considered a remarkable step in support of the national economy to facilitate trade movement and security and customs procedures. Those scanners are one of the most advanced types globally. They are expected to boost the Kingdom's pioneering position in introducing modernisation and development projects to enhance the infrastructure in line with international standards
