Customs Affairs installs hi-tech scanning system at airport

His Excellency President of Customs Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa has visited the Bahrain International Airport to inspect the newly-introduced advanced scanning system.

Earlier, the Customs Affairs had announced the supply of six devices as the first phase to replace the old ones at all customs ports. Those hi-tech devices are considered better for detecting illegal and banned items. The devices are part of the second goal of the Customs Affairs strategy for 2017-20.

The President praised the dedication of the customs officers of the airport and affirmed the importance of maintaining efficiency for further achievements.It focused on the general operations of the committee to license and allow chemicals in Bahrain, while the team of the e-clearance system "Horizon" of the Customs Affairs presented a paper on how to apply for permission through the system.

Meanwhile, the General Directorate of Civil Defence focused on the safety conditions to store, transport and deal with high-risk chemicals and ways to tackle chemicals-related accidents.
