E-customs clearance system upgraded to get ready for VAT

Customs President Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa has praised His Majesty the King’s directives to take into account the citizens’ needs by excluding necessary commodities and services from the Value-Added Tax (VAT).

He also highlighted the conclusion of all steps to get ready for the implementation of the tax from 2019, including the upgradation of the e-customs clearance system and briefing of customs-clearance agents and the bodies concerned about the steps required to implement the VAT.

The Director-General of Customs Inspection and Security of the Customs Affairs, Brigadier Abdullah Al Kubaisi has attended a lecture on value-added tax (VAT).

The event aimed to informed the customs personnel and clients, mainly clearance agents on steps that would be taken from January 1, including taxes and administrative fees.
